Medical Qualifications

Mr Christian Brown qualified in 1996 from King’s College Hospital, London with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree, before undertaking higher surgical training at a number of hospitals across the southeast, including University College and the Royal Marsden hospitals, London. In 2007 Mr Brown was awarded a Medical Doctorate from the University of London.

Medical Experience

Mr Brown has a specialist interest in urological surgery and was the first surgeon to perform a pelvic kidney removal through the umbilicus (belly button), which is a new and scarless procedure. He is particularly interested in these new, minimally invasive treatments and has specialised in minimally invasive treatments for urinary tract cancers and laparoscopic (keyhole) urological surgery including laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.

Mr Brown has lectured on Diploma and Master’s courses on Urology and has also taught practical surgical skills to a number of trainees and consultants in the UK and Denmark. He is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, the European Association of Urology, the London Urological Travelling Society, the Royal Society of Medicine Urology Section and the Southern England Laparoscopic Urology Group. Mr Brown has been awarded Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (London) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Urology).

He is currently the Lead Clinician for Urological Cancer and Consultant Urological Surgeon at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and he is available to treat patients at his private practices, the Lister Hospital and the Guthrie Clinic, both based in London.

    Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, also known as keyhole prostatectomy, is a minimally invasive operation performed by a Urological Surgeon to treat, and cure, prostate cancer. It is performed under general anaesthetic and involves removing the entire prostate gland, seminal vesicles, and sometimes the lymph glands within the pelvis. The bladder is then re-attached to the urethra with sutures.
