One of the UK's top Rheumatologists, Dr Kaye-Barrett is passionate about women's health - in particular, painful musculoskeletal conditions and the prevention and the effective treatment of osteoporosis.

Hailed by Tatler magazine as one of the top consultants in the UK and regularly cited as an expert in her field by publications such as Vogue, Dr Kaye-Barrett is President Elect of the Royal Society of Medicine, Rheumatology section and is a member of the Council at The Independent Doctors Federation (IDF) after having served two terms as appraiser. She has also served on the BMA private practice committee. Dr Kaye-Barrett is on the Medical Advisory Board at Grayshott Spa, where she is working on a specialised recuperation programme, in conjunction with some of the top private London Hospitals.

Medical qualifications

After qualifying as a doctor at Liverpool University School of Medicine where she was winner of Final Year Clinical Medicine Prize, Dr Stephanie Kaye-Barrett went on to gain Membership of the Royal College Physicians in 1987 in London. She continued to extend her professional development with an MD thesis on scleroderma and the gastrointestinal tract, at Liverpool University School of Medicine. Dr Kaye-Barrett was awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 2000.

Medical experience

With almost twenty years experience as a consultant, Dr Kaye Barrett was the Clinical Lead Rheumatologist at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for eight years. She was responsible for setting up and running the Osteoporosis clinic, Early Inflammatory Arthritis clinic and Orthopaedic Liaison clinic.

Dr Kaye Barrett has previously served as Senior Lecturer at Imperial College School of Medicine.

Areas of expertise include osteoporosis, arthritis, rheumatism (such as carpal tunnel syndrome, frozen shoulder, trochanteric bursitis, tennis elbow  and tendonitis). She advises on the prevention of osteoporosis and the best way to treat the loss of bone density.

Dr Kaye-Barrett also specialises Rheumatoid Arthritis, including the newest biological therapies.

Favouring an integrated approach, Dr Kaye-Barrett works with a range of other health professionals. These may include physiotherapists and holistic practitioners, such as nutritionists and acupuncturists - the aim being for patients to achieve the optimal level of health and wellbeing possible.
